Tristate Pianoworks is moving to New Orleans and Changing Names to PianoOnMyMind. Though I have been a visitor for many years, the piano tradition out of NOLA convinced me to migrate and enter the field of piano technicians as an RPT, and with that effort, provide an introductory rate for piano tuning of 75 dollars within 25 cents of 440.

In the event the piano is beyond 25 cents sharp or flat, a second visit for a final tuning within 2 weeks to a month will be required for 50 dollars. This will all be evaluated by a smart phone app for the client to verify the 25 cents of deviation.

Other services will be offered, though currently I have not managed to move my shop, such as cleaning, regulation, and voicing, which also will be provided for an unusually affordable price.

Obviously, as a newcomer to the NOLA area, I am making an effort to tear many away from their celebrity technicians. After decades in the business, I have concluded that piano technicians do not make very good celebrities. Though in the process of changing domain names and soon to be facebook name, there I produced an excerpt of Evgeny Kissin describing the task of celebrity from a recent interview, and the opportunity it gave him to control his schedule enough to give him rest to maintain the quality of his performances. This is generally not what happens to celebrity piano technicians.

First, a Celebrity piano technician, or a piano dealer also doing piano technology work, gets overbooked, and the quality of work suffers. I know because of the dissatisfied customer that subsequently calls me. Second the celebrity technician becomes a middleman, raising prices even beyond what celebrity made possible, and sends a tuner the celebrity technician would insist him or herself does inferior work to the celebrity in the equation.

I will be the only one for PianoOnMyMind working on the piano. You will be compensating 1 person, not 2, 3, or 4. I have always done all of my own administrative and accounting work. You will be paying one person for service. I certainly am currently nowhere near overbooked, and until I raise prices, could not be.

I look forward to discussing all of the amazing pianists from New Orleans and influenced by New Orleans that taught me so much after getting a piano performance undergraduate degree and who taught me so much more than a Master's degree would have. I also have plans to make efforts at preserving that tradition, and currently am investigating ways to do that through grants and such, even ambitions at the possibility of creating a New Orleans School of Piano. Thank you for making this a possibility by considering allowing me to tune your piano.
